Rabiel heals Rano's injuries, telling him that he has burned his White Diadem and he needs Rano to wear it in order to contact their brothers, telling him everything he sees and hears, since he can't contact them and they won't trust him, if he does.

Rano refuses to wear the Diadem, tearing it and stamping it into the ground. Rabiel tells him the only way he can escape from it, is by buring it. Rano tries to burn it and Rabiel stops him. Rano asks the significance of the hat, to which Rabiel asks whether he wants to help his sister.

Rano reluctantly wears the Diadem, so that he can help save his sister. Rabiel tries to teach Rano to use the Diadem, but Rano keeps shouting hello, think the signal is bad, Rabiel tells him it's not a phone, but Rano ignores it, shouting louder.

He makes contact with Gabriel and the other messengers at the same time. Rabiel touches Rano with his spear and communicates with his brothers. He tells them they faced Luciel and that he can't see or hear them, because he has burned the White Diadem, in accordance with Ra's wishes.

He tells his brothers to search Rano's memories, for any mention of Luciel, and suggests they start with his earliest memory. Rabiel knocks Rano unconscious so his brother's can search Rano's memories.

Rano remembers his past life as Diane, she reads a story to her younger siblings, before leaving to pick berries. She has trouble finding berries, until a young boy appears telling her about a place, deeper within the forest, where she can find lots of berries. Diane says that part of the forest is forbidden, because there are wild animals in that area. The boy tells her, it's all lies, so she heads to the area the boy told her about. As she pushes her way through some bushes, she runs into Lessa.
