Personality[]

Background[]

Raynold used to be a simple student who attended a law school. Yet as he was twenty years old, an incident occurred on his sister, Lucy Berger's, Birthday. Lucy's friends were attacked and killed by Demans and she was also taken away by them.

The very day, Raynold finds his mother laying on the ground after returning home from walking his dog, Marco, outside as an excuse to buy Lucy a necklace as a gift. Angered by seeing the Deman who took his mother's life, he unknowingly unleashes the power that was given to him by the Egyptian god "Ra" after which he faints as the battle ends with his temporary victory.

He wakes up beside his dead mother, and not long after that, the place becomes a crime scene. He mourns yet remembers his sister, and desperately looks for her without any successful results, still holding onto the gift he and Marco brought on her birthday.

He then barges into what used to be Dr. Jin Young-sam's laboratory, stopping him from committing suicide, breaking in using a bat. He is soon treated by the doctor, who decides to help him find his sister.

Ever since, he has been fighting off Deman in the area using varieties of flame throwing weapons, using Dr. Jin's knowledge and help occasionally while patrolling around in the area. While doing that, Rano also never forgot to ask about his sister using a picture he had of her.

Plot Overview[]

Prelude

Rano is awoken from a recurring dream, in which he meets Lessa. After waking up, Dr. Jin Young-sam informs him about an incident in which three Demans are chasing a girl towards the Hexagon Field. The girl is attacked by the Demans, however Rano manages to stop them before her soul is devoured. He kills several Demans, before asking the survivor if he's seen the girl in the picture. The Deman refuses to talk, and Rano kills him. Rano takes the unconscious girl with him.[1]
Rano wakes up and gets refreshed having fought and killed three Demans the night before. After he wakes up, he sits on the sofa and watches the news on TV, before Young-sam appears asking him to come and eat. Rano asks Young-sam about Ares, adding the guards mentioned him. Young-sam replies he's heard rumours about him being the leader of the Demans but is unsure. Later that night as Rano is on a stake-out, Young-sam tells him the Demans are close to his location and he'll give him a signal when they're close by. Rano plays a claw crane while he waits, thinking it to be full of food. He wins a lighter, as he stares into the flame of the lighter, he has a flashback to the night his sister disappeared five years ago. As he rubs his eyes Young-sam warns Rano, the Demans are close by, but Rano is unable to react on time, resulting in him being kicked in the face by Lessa.[2]
Having been kicked to the ground, Rano is in a state of shock, before he can recover, two more Demans appear. The Demans ignore him and chase after Lessa, the guy who stepped on Rano's face. Rano guns down the Demans and chases down Lessa on his bike. As Lessa turns around Rano recognises him from his dreams and is unable to stop in time, hitting Lessa with is bike. Rano takes Lessa to the hospital to receive treatment from Young-sam. Young-sam scolds Rano for carrying and injured person on his bike, however Rano states he didn't have any choice in the matter. After realising Lessa isn't injured, Young-sam checks his teeth. Young-sam realises he has teeth, similar to Demans, meaning he isn't human. Young-sam restrains Lessa in a chair, as Rano thinks they should check he really is a Deman and tries to burn Lessa with a high powered lamp. Young-sam tries to stop Rano, instead wishing to study Lessa. While fighting over the lamp, it is accidentally switched on and the two men are shocked to see Lessa is unaffected. Young-sam heads to the lab to conduct some experiments, leaving Rano to protect his sample. Rano asks Lessa if he is mute, and to his surprise Lessa responds, telling him it's been a while.[3]
Asking Lessa if he's mute, Lessa replies he isn't and turns the chair to ash. Rano grabs his gun instinctively, causing Lessa to suddenly appear beside him and punch him into the wall. Lessa thinks Rano is trying to hurt him and asks Rano why he killed him. Rano doesn't know what Lessa is talking about and is about to punch Rano again. Rano asks him to stop, saying that he's a Human, while Lessa is a Deman, and what other reason could he have for wanting to harm Lessa. Lessa replies that isn't what he means and asks him if he doesn't remember the last time they met. Rano tells Lessa that he has never met him before. Lessa realising that Rano doesn't have any memories of the past, lets him go and leaves, warning Rano to never cross his path again. He kicks down the door as Rano wonders how Lessa knows his name. Young-sam runs downstairs having heard the commotion and wonders what happened to his sample, as Rano tells him that's not important, as he needs medical attention. Young-sam asks if it's blood having thought it was Rano's moustache.[4]
